LES TILLEULS
Les Tilleuls, "The Lime Trees",
our country house in the medieval village of Plazac, some 12 km from Montignac,
is situated in the centre of the Perigord Noir, a region of the Dordogne.
This large house was the former summer residence of the bishops of Perigueux (capital of the Dordogne), and has a history that dates back to the twelfth century of which some elements are still visible. It has five guest rooms each with a private bathroom. There is a large garden with terraces and a swimming pool.
Plazac is the perfect central place for trips to the famous castles along the Dordogne and Vézère rivers; the caves of Lascaux; Les Eyzies (the prehistoric capital of the world); the picturesque, medieval city of Sarlat with it's Saturday market; Gallo-Roman Perigueux with it's beautiful squares, museums and shops; La Roque Saint Christophe; Beynac; Les Milandes (former residence of Josephine Baker) and many, many other sites of interest.
The countryside around Plazac offers opportunities for walkers as there are many public footpaths to be discovered. The rivers Vézère and the Dordogne are fun to explore by canoe and offer you a spectacular view of the landscape. Mountain biking is very popular and golf and tennis is available locally.
All this within 35 km of "LES TILLEULS".
One of the most famous specialties of the Dordogne is the foie gras. Specialist food shops offer a wide selection of local delicacies for the gourmet, or it is possible to buy directly from farmers. We at Les Tilleuls, of course, serve this excellent delicacy too, on special request.
The Dordogne has a lot of cultural
and musical festivals, particularly in the summer, when you can enjoy
local, national and international artistes. Brocante, or Bric-a-Brac,
fairs are held in many of the villages around and it is fun to bargain
for anything from junk to antique.
Prices for one night range from €49.50 Euros to €62.50 Euros for a 2, 3 or 4 persons bedroom with breakfast included.
By advance arrangement, Karin will
prepare a delicious dinner in the evening and Dik will help you to choose
a complementary wine. Dinner, at €20 Euros per head, consists of
an apéritif, starter, main course, cheese and dessert.
